Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on April 5th, 1908, Bette Davis was the most prolific actress of her time. She appeared in more than 80 theatrically released movies between 1931 and 1989. She was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar an impressive 11 times (including an amazing 5 consecutive years), winning the coveted award twice. With her prominent eyes, distinctive, clipped speaking voice and constant cigarette smoking she became an iconic movie star for the ages. Bette Davis died on October 6th, 1989 in Neuilly, France at the age of 81.
