I watched a 12 disc documentary by BBC some years ago. It is very well done with interviews from people who were at the events described. I remember the part of the documentary where they interviewed a German woman who was a child when the Russians invaded Germany. She said many drown themselves and their children in the river when they heard the Russians were within a few miles. Another part had an interview with a former British nurse who talked about how she and all the other nurses were raped in the hospital by Japanese soldiers when they entered Hong Kong.
