There are some people, myself included, who can get misty eyed during the playing or our national anthem. There are some, myself included, who get a lump in their throat when they hear on the news of another fallen American soldier. There are some, myself included, who smile when they see a picture of a soldier coming home and being greeted by his children. There are some, myself included, who feel a sense of pride at the site of our country's ensign waving proudly. There are some, myself included, who see movies like Saving Private Ryan as a testament to the greatness of the American nation.-Then there is Scott, who saw a long movie with too much talking.

And there are some, you included, who let their patriotism blind themselves to this movie's flaws.

Patriotism is the very heart and theme of the movie.

So what? That doesn't automatically make it perfect. This movie has flaws. You're letting the emotion it engenders override your objectivity.

Speilbergs emotional manipulation in the graveyard is based on patriotism and nostalgia. It is a World War II film after all. To object to this scene is to object to a scarey scene in a horror movie. War movies are either rally around the flag films or anti-war movies. Military films have never been your favorite.
