Doris and Felix are inhabitants of the same New York apartment building. Although they have never met until one rainy night when their polar opposite worlds collide.

While Doris is forthright and confrontational, Felix is introspective and reserved. Both are leading lives filled with delusion. They are forced together one night when the superintendent of their building throws them both out for creating a nuisance.

From here on, the two of them learn about each other, but not before the climactic scene in Central Park, when Felix finally breaks down their pretences and they begin their relationship anew - this time based on honesty.
