Sounds like a movie that could have been a awake up call to it's audience, but then backed away, for fear of offending them. Rendering the message moot.
When did Hollywood get castrated?

I think it was either afraid to upset the people paying to have their products placed in the film or afraid if they took people to task for spending above their means that those same people wouldn't want to see the movie.
#2 - Scott - 08/20/2010 - 12:31
Eric, do you also object to being forced to buy lead-free paint?
#3 - Scott - 06/02/2011 - 10:50
What about people who defend our "right" to buy assault rifles but want to keep a harmless (compared to alcohol which kills thousands a year) drug like marijuana illegal?
#4 - Patrick - 06/02/2011 - 11:55
Scott, I never said I objected to anything, but since you mentioned it, lead paint is bad for you, just like LED light bulbs which have been found to have lead and mercury in them.
#5 - Eric - 06/02/2011 - 12:25
Patrick, why do I care what type of gun someone chooses to legally buy?
#6 - Eric - 06/02/2011 - 12:27
Eric, we all know that when you said, "No one can force you to buy anything, except our government, with such things as healthcare and LED light bulbs." you weren't saying it because you're in favor of those things. And if you don't object to the government forcing you to buy healthcare and LED light bulbs, please say so now and I'll retract my statement.
#7 - Scott - 06/02/2011 - 12:30
Of course I object to those things. I was just pointing out that you were starting this argument.
#8 - Eric - 06/02/2011 - 12:34
What argument? My question was just to see if you think the government should regulate any products for safety or if it should be up to the consumer to self regulate.
#9 - Scott - 06/02/2011 - 12:38
My point was that assault rifles (in my opinion) shouldn't be legal but marijuana should. If you support the law banning marijuana sales then you do support some government regulation.
#10 - Patrick - 06/02/2011 - 13:14
There has to be laws that protect the citizens of the country.
#11 - Eric - 06/02/2011 - 14:39
I agree. But again outlawing assualt rifles does this more than criminalizing marijuana.
#12 - Patrick - 06/03/2011 - 12:00
Not at all. Most criminals obtain thier guns ilegally, so another gun law would matter not.
#13 - Eric - 06/03/2011 - 12:27
"Most of the guns used in crimes originated as legally sold items," says Steve Steel of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms office in Dallas.
#14 - Scott - 06/03/2011 - 12:34
So I, a responsible gun owner, should be penalized becuase of the acts of criminals using guns that were once bought legitimately, but have since been stolen or sold under the table?
#15 - Eric - 06/04/2011 - 04:56
I support to the death every law abiding American citizens right to bear arms. But you have to draw the line somewhere. I mean hand granades and nuclear bombs are illegal aren't they? I just don't think the founding fathers envisioned modern weaponry.
#16 - Patrick - 06/04/2011 - 11:21
This conversation started about the government forcing us to buy a particular light bulb that will make GE a shitload of money to the personal use of grenades and nuclear boombs????
#17 - Eric - 06/04/2011 - 14:35
Interesting huh? I was merely pointing out that the right to bear arms is limited. The argument is only in where the cutoff point should be. Just as we all agree that government regulation is necessary but disagree on exactly where and when it is needed and where and when it crosses the line in regards to our civil liberties.
#18 - Patrick - 06/05/2011 - 13:43
It crosses the line in regards to our civil liberties when it forces us to buy something such as healthcare. Since you spoke on behalf of our forefathers, I will as well. I am sure our forefathers were completely against such a manipulative manuevor by our government.
#19 - Eric - 06/06/2011 - 05:18
I completely agree on that. The government shouldn't be able to force us to buy health insurance.
#20 - Patrick - 06/06/2011 - 13:30
I had to read that twice. Did you just agree with me politically, and disagree with Obama?
#21 - Eric - 06/07/2011 - 13:36
Amazing isn't it!!!???
