Eric, having worked in the environmental movement for 10 years, I can tell you that it is much more diverse than just "middle class white twenty somethings or a middle aged white hippies". You left out many demographics. For instance, there are also lots of white twenty something hippies, and middle class white thirty somethings. There's also, tons of middle class white forty somethings and you left out one of the most key demographics, the upper class white fifty plus somethings who are now donating their money to the environmental cause because they feel guilty about their life. You can not overestimate the importance that guilt plays in the environmental movement.
