wow...i guess i know why your last review was what it was..and why i disagreed. again, i saw this with my wife (my choice to go to the theater-i love all these actors). i thought it was going to be an ok movie with nonsense laugther (again, scott, liked your review better). it was definitely NOT the best comedy of the summer - heck, date night was better than this. this dragged on for way too long. my wife wanted to walk out, but i would never walk out on a movie i paid for. while rudd was funny, and the end scene (the actual dinner) was funny, and the small parts livingston and daily show guy had were funny, the movie as a whole sucked. even galifinakis was weak. again, i knew this wasnt going to be a wedding crashers or hangover..but i was hoping for a zoolander or anchorman - not such a great "movie" but a great comedy...i left feeling bad i dragged my wife to see it, and sad i wasted 13 bucks (i know! a cheap theater!!!).
but when this is a movie you recommend, i can understand our differences. this is also why i hate basing a movie on somebody else's review: we all have different perspectives and movies do different things to us. so if you want to see a movie, see it, no matter what anybody says. once you see it, then you can make your own decision.
