A thoroughly uninspired yawn of a review.

And a thoroughly uninspired yawn of a comment.

@Patrick, I'm sure you also enjoyed using the very unflattering pic of Paltrow. Is it something specific that makes you dislike her or is it like my dislike of Julia Roberts? Just instinctual.

What is with the haten on Gwyneth?

It's intinctual. I find her drab and boring onscreen and from every interview or mention on Page Six I find her stuck up in real life.

Eric, the Huffington Post started as a blog by two people and received millions of hits a month. It was bought by AOL for over $300 million, so yeah, there are bloggers with that kind of influence.
I don't understand your line about the "Birds are already doing that" killing the movie. The disease in the movie is actually closer to the Nipah virus which was caused by a pig and a bat.

It killed the movie because it ended the mystery of how it started.

Eric, what you disliked about this movie is exactly what I thought made it decent. That is the fact that it is a completely naturally occuring disease. It is so much more realistic and therefore scary than having a human be the villain.

The Huffington Post is about conspiracies?
#9 - Eric - 09/23/2011 - 12:26
Patrick, having it play out like a naturally occuring disease is boring. If I wanted that I would watch a documantary on Swine Flu.

The point of this movie is in the devastating effects of a contagious disease and how man responds to the crisis. The disease being a naturally occuring phenomenon adds to the realism. A documentary on Swine Flu is not the same thing since the last time I checked it had not wiped out a quarter of the Earth's human population.

@Eric - If it had been about "corrupt politicians and greedy manufacturing companies willing to endanger people for profits," wouldn't you have hated that as it would be yet another negative depiction of the white capitalist? To quote your A-Team review, "I am so damn tired of Hollywood stereotyping rich white men as the root of all evil"..."this is liberal Hollywood. The bad guys are all suit-wearing white American men." I'm not trying to be hostile, I'm just curious as your proposed plot for Contagion sounds out of character for you.

Are all capitalists and politicians white men?
