Didn't the sitcom Night Court start around this time? The early 80s was definitely the beginning of the 24 hour store era. Scott I loved your complimentary line about Streisand in your last paragraph.

Why did she do this movie? Was she under contract?

No, she was preparing to make Yentl and wanted to rev up her creative juices. As bizarre as it sounds this was her acting rehearsal for that movie. She replaced Lisa Eichorn and you are correct that they expanded the part once she took it over.

I never said Cheryl's husband was physically abusive. He is certainly emotionally abusive and bullying towards her. Yes Cheryl is wrong for having affairs instead of just walking away but that doesn't mean she is still not a victim; even if it is partly of her own making.
I enjoyed your review Eric. You and I have now reviewed all 18 of Streisand's movies. Scott you only have "Funny Lady" and "Nuts" left. hint hint

She disrespects him throughout the film. His only flaw is that he asks her to get him a beer and stop singing while he is on the phone. She does not have a job. She cannot cook. He takes care of her. I think expecting her to bring him a beer when he wants one is hardly abuse.
